Today is Recycling Day, a day when we pay attention to the great environmental benefits of recycling a little extra. Even though Sweden is often ranked as one of the world's greenest economies, we are missing out on great opportunities to recycle surplus materials from construction. That's something we at Hummeltorp want to change! This day gives us the opportunity to reflect on the positive environmental effects that arise when we recycle resources that by definition are considered waste!♻

Did you know that…

♻ In Sweden, non-renewable aggregate materials are extracted annually, equivalent to filling the entire Globen Arena 100 times over. At least half of this can be replaced with recycled aggregate from excavation waste.

♻ Hummeltorp recycles over 300,000 tons of residual waste annually - a weight equivalent to 25,000 full trucks.

♻ Hummeltorp saves natural resources for future generations. When we recycle one ton of surplus materials, it has a positive impact on the environment twice over – one ton less extracted from gravel pits or quarries and at the same time one ton less in hazardous landfills.

♻ Hummeltorp cleans, sorts, processes and recycles excavated and rock masses into new quality-specified circular products with a recycling rate of 96%.
