Hummeltorp and Sweden's Minister of Climate and Environment at the Recycling Industries' launch of the roadmap for fossil-free competitiveness
On Friday, Hummeltorp CEO Christer Otterström participated in an important panel debate during the Recycling Industries' launch of the 2024 roadmap for fossil-free competitiveness. The initiative is part of Fossil-Free Sweden, where 23 different industries present their strategies for becoming climate neutral, while strengthening their competitiveness.
Minister of Climate and Environment Romina Pourmokhtari was present, highlighting the crucial role of the recycling industry in securing access to raw materials for the green transition. She emphasized that the transition to a fossil-free society and a circular economy go hand in hand.
During the panel discussion, Hummeltorp's CEO shared our work to reduce one-way transport. By combining manure containers at our EcoHorse customers with deliveries of soil and crushed products, we can reduce the climate footprint from transport by up to 89 percent! Christer also took the opportunity to propose a kilometer tax on empty transport to the Minister of Climate and Environment as a concrete measure to counteract unnecessary transport.
