How Hummeltorp's efforts positively affect the climate

Extracted non-renewable aggregate materials, in Sweden alone, annually correspond to the weight of the Globe more than 2,000 times over. At least half of this amount could instead be replaced with recycled material from excavation waste. Imagine recycling materials instead of extracting nature from new non-renewable resources, what an enormously positive impact it would generate. This is where Hummeltorp makes a difference, among other things!

Hummeltorp annually recycles 300,000 tons of surplus materials from the construction industry – which corresponds to the weight of 25,000 trucks. The core of Hummeltorp's operations is sustainable and climate-smart recycling that has a positive impact on society in various ways.

Hummeltorp's efforts lead to, among other things:

♻️ A significantly reduced climate footprint in production and significantly reduced carbon dioxide emissions through smart transport solutions that combine trips to avoid trips with empty trucks.

♻️ Reduced use of non-renewable natural resources.

♻️ Recycled material becomes high-quality organic soil improvement that creates lush and more sustainable agriculture.

♻️ Recycling excavated material reduces the need to extract finite natural resources from quarries. Instead of excavated material ending up in nature in remote and environmentally hazardous landfills, Hummeltorp ensures that it can be reused.

♻️ Hummeltorp works to counteract high levels of nitrogen and phosphorus, which leads to cleaner groundwater as well as cleaner lakes, streams and oceans. By recycling natural materials, Hummeltorp also works to reduce the extraction of sand and gravel, which are nature's only water filter for new clean groundwater.
